Human Resources Qualifying Status Changes Q & A

A Qualified Status Change is a change is work or family status that allows limited mid-year changes to benefit plans that effect eligibility for coverage. These changes are allowed outside of the annual open enrollment period. All changes must be reported to Human Resources within 31 days of the qualifying event. Q. I am employed by NWRESD as a classified employee at .75 FTE, but I was notified that my FTE will decrease in September to .50FTE. Can I make changes to my benefits?
A. Yes, because amount contributed by NWRESD will be reduced from $1258 per month to $629 per month a QSC is triggered. That will allow you to:
  • Drop you spouse or domestic partner (if applicable)
  • Drop your dependent child(ren) (if applicable)
  • Drop coverage on yourself
  • Change plan selections to a less expensive plan
Changes must be made within 31 days of the qualifying event.

Q. I am getting married. How and when do I add my spouse and his/her child(ren) to my insurance?
A. Once you are married, you have 31 days to submit an Enrollment Change Form to NWRESD Human Resources indicating your intent to add your spouse and his/her dependents.
