Mental Health Support
We are all better at managing stress when we stay connected with our friends and people we love. While we remain at-a-distance, stay connected on the phone or internet, host zoom happy hour and play jack box (a virtual game that can be played at a distance), or as the weather improves wear your masks and sit 6 ft. apart on the lawn. Take care of your health by eating well, exercising and doing activities that you take pleasure in. Stay informed, but take breaks from the news and media.

Meet Our Wellness Coordinator
Our Wellness Council received a five-year, $100,000 grant from OEA Choice Trust to launch an equity-driven staff wellness program.
Our new, part-time wellness coordinator is Bailey Kose. Bailey will help advance this work in coordination with our Wellness Council, organizational leadership, union leadership and equity team. Contact Information: bkose@nwresd.k12.or.us |
We recently did a short Q&A with Bailey so you can get to know her.
Q: What are you most excited about in this new role?
A: Wellness is something I'm passionate about and have learned quite a bit about on my personal journey over the past few years, so I'm really excited to get to share that with my colleagues and the community at large. I'm also excited to learn more about equity-centered wellness and bring that lens into this work.
Q: What do you see as the biggest challenge you will need to tackle?
A: I think the biggest challenge will be bringing meaningful wellness to folks while we're apart. Social interaction can be a large part of living well, and quarantine has made that a bigger hurdle.
Q: What do you do to prioritize your own wellness?
A: My favorite ways to practice wellness include giving myself permission and space to stumble as I learn, getting creative (drawing, painting, cross-stitching, journaling), and going for walks! :)
Q: When you are not serving as the NWRESD wellness coordinator, what else do you do at NWRESD?
A: I serve as a Site Supervisor for the Northwest Outdoor Science School program. I started with Outdoor School at the age of 15 when I was a volunteer high school student leader. After I graduated from Portland State University, I found my way back to the program and have been teaching and learning at Camp Magruder since 2017.
